Akai MPC 2000XL The
Work Horse
I have to make this statement! If you walk into
a production studio and they do not have a MPC 60, MPC 3000,
MPC 2000, MPC 2000XL, MPC 4000 or an MPC 1000 drum
machine…LEAVE!
Seriously! I don’t care what type of music they
produce or what kind of software they have (Propellerhead
Reason, FL Studio..etc…etc).
The fact is nothing swings drums like an MPC
drum machine. I have all kind of software and hardware but my
main piece of gear is my MPC 2000XL. For you old heads I have a
Roger Linn MPC 3000 too but the screen doesn’t show that great
anymore. However, it still has a spot in the studio just
because it is an MPC 3000 no what I mean. Listen to a track I produced with my MPC
2000XL. I chopped the samples and sequenced it all with
the MPC.
The MPC 2000XL is what I do all my sequencing
with and it is definitely in the loop of my MIDI setup. I am
running 2 keyboards, 6 sound modules, 3 synth boards and the
EMU MP-7 drum machine from my MPC 2000XL. Oh…she is a beast. I
love all my software gear but I will never leave my hardware
gear to collect dust…NEVER! The AKAI MPC Production
Guide will give you a list of the current boards and specs on
the most popular “MPC 2000XL”.
