What Is Pro
Tools?
To put it simply…Pro Tools is a premier
computer-based digital music production and recording
system. Many people sling around the word Pro
Tools in the music industry as if it were
one program.
Most have no idea what they are speaking of when
it comes to “Pro Tools” which is the name of the software
is a combination system. The two combinations of Pro
Tools LE and Pro Tools HD make up the killer duo of
top-notch software and hardware.
What Is Pro Tools
LE?
Pro Tools LE systems are software systems
capable of serving up 32-track project studios and they
are really good for the price. You can record, edit, mix
and master with these systems with ease.
The LE systems rely exclusively on the
processing power of your computer’s CPU. That means you
can’t have specific computer setups to run these software
programs. The speed, power and RAM in your computer will
determine how many plug-in effects and software
synthesizers you can run at one time. Don’t you just love
the Pro Tools Recording Guide?
Pro Tools LE recording systems are for everyone.
You will find that many professional grade engineers and
producers that use Pro Tools HD systems at Major and
professional studios use Pro Tolls LE systems at home.
Now that is saying a lot. No need to worry about losing
song files because data can be transferred back and forth
from LE systems to HD systems with ease. The cost
for Pro Tools LE can run anywhere from $500 to
$3,000. However, it’s worth the
money!

Should I
Run Pro Tools On A Mac or PC?
Many people in the music industry argue about
which computer Pro Tools runs better on. The fact that
you are reading this portion of the page means that you
have herad the argument or discussion at least
once...ha-ha. The fact is there is no real definitive
answer to the question of…What Computer does Pro Tools
run better on?
However without a doubt most Pro Tools
applications run world wide on mostly MACS. I am a PC
user and I have Pro Tools on one of my studio computers
and I don’t have a problem at all. I’m just not use to
the MAC platform. So what I’m saying to you here is that
either one will do just fine…MACS or PC’S. Just make sure
you have enough power for them to run
properly.
